Exploring Fear of Crime for Those Targeted by Romance Fraud

This article assesses 3,259 romance fraud reports made by individuals to Scamwatch (Australian online reporting portal for fraud), between July 2018 – 2019 (inclusive). It seeks highlight experiences of fear crime as articulated the complainants. Drawing on frameworks used analyze (specifically affective, behavioral and cognitive aspects fear) is an exploratory assessment how evident in those targeted fraud. builds a model better understanding differing victim responses often-hidden harms involved around anxieties victims which importantly, can manifest both offline environments.
